For those who are interested in finding out about their ancestors and how to begin here are some very helpful sites. Some free some are not but at least they can point you in the right direction:

Ancestry. com
Ancestry you do have to have a paid subscription for. I have had my account for years now even though I no longer have a subscription.

RootsWeb
This is a free to search site. You can search the SSDI ( Social Security Death Index ), other peoples family trees and info and many other things. You can even volunteer!

Family Search
This has been my most rewarding site as I have volunteered to do indexing for them. I have been indexing draft cards from WWI and WWII, US Census and other things. It's a great way to give back and help preserve the information for future generations.

There are many more sites I use and I will be adding those also and some that aren't so great that maybe you have come across.

What A Find!

As some of you may know I have been into genealogy for many years. I am also a collector of old and vintage items. Combine the two and you have a real find. A man contacted me and told me that years ago he had purchased a book from an estate sale. I was shocked to find out that this book belonged to my great grandfather!

I am now awaiting the arrival of this family treasure. This man is a blessing and we will be forever grateful for his kindness. We do not have anything of my father's grandfather. I am so very happy and excited to be able to share this with my family.
