We decided on starting a garden this year. we planted tomato plants and some herbs. Then came the rains. We had a bad start of torrential down pours which just rotted our plants or washed the seeds away. Gator's grandpa did better so we have a few months worth of blackeyed peas in their different stages in our freezer. I shelled them and blanched them. We just finished up the corn too he gave us.Gator has made our garden bigger and hopefully will be finished before we are to plant next years first crop. I have string beans, green peppers, corn, watermelon and peas seeds Also some herbs and some cantelope. Hopefully next year will be better as we so needed the veggies for this year.
Gator lost his job and is now on unemployment. We are barely making ends meet and have given up as much as we can. People take for granted they will always have that cup of coffee and toast with breakfast. This has been one main reason I havent posted recipes. I just do not have the means to cook anything work posting. Ramen noddles and chicken and rice and black eyed peas is what we have been living on. We have had some wonderful friends and family give when they could but even sometimes even that isnt enough although we are truly blessed. This has been a humbling experiences to say the least. We were able to scrounge up enough to make spagetti one night and it was like we were eating lobster! It was so good.
If I could ask my readers one thing it would be to pray for us. I know something has got to give. The good Lord has plans for us and we know he will lead us in the right direction. I also pray for others who are going through this. Bless you and may God keep us all strong.
